Problem: When Windows reboots you don't get the start menu. Instead you get a dialogue box stating that MSVCRT.DLL is linked to Missing Export File NT??. Press OK and you can't get by this screen. MSVCRT.DLL is a visual C library and is widely used by many different programs. Depending on other software you have installed in the past you may get this issue on Windows 98. XP, NT and 2000 have no issues. The right date for MSVCRT.DLL for win98 is 6-8-2000.
Quick Fix 1: Try this first: Reboot your PC and
press F1 a few times while in the black screen and once in the Win98 intro
screen. When the "Boot Options Screen" comes up choose the
option: (6 or 7): Command Prompt only. At the command prompt type :
copy c:\windows\msvcrt.dll c:\windows\system (then press
Enter). You should get a prompt OK to overwrite. Type Y for
yes. Then type WIN to reboot windows and everything should be fine.
If you get a file not found error proceed to Fix 2.
