Understanding User Account Controls and how to Turn them off temporarily to initialize TurboStats
What is User Account Control in Windows 7 and Vista.
User Account Control was designed to prevent malicious software from modifying
your computer settings. However it also prevents trusted software from
registering system files and creating registry entrys to save program
defaults. In order to install TurboStats on a PC with User Account
Controls Running you need to temporarily disable it and reboot. Follow the
steps below if you have Windows 7 or Vista then make sure you reboot to have
your changes take effect.
Windows 7 Instructions
Click the Start Button and at the bottom of the screen next to the magnifying glass type in UAC and press enter
You should see the following screen:
Drag the slider all the way to the bottom and press OK then REBOOT your PC.
If this screen does not appear then do the following...
1. Click Start and then open Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety.
3. Click User Accounts.
4. Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
Windows Vista Instructions
Click the Start Button and click on CONTROL PANEL
In the Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety.
Click on the words User Accounts that look like a heading
You should see the following form...
Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
Then you should see this form
Uncheck the box to Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer
Then Reboot your PC.
After you run TurboStats, Open a Team and access the different screens in the software, you can turn User Account Controls back on.
