From Last Minute Call Up to MVP. Clay Petry didn't think he was going to be playing in this years all star game, but a last minute cancellation opened up a roster spot and the rest is history. In the bottom of the 2nd Mark Spotto singled and Keith Blicht also reached 1st safely. Then Clay Petry(3-4)ignited team Bornstein with a high fly ball to left center, just out of reach of the leaping Nick Adams for a 3 run HR and the game's first score. Tom Baginski(2-4) followed Clay with a 3 Baginski of his own and scored off a single by Brian Godau (3-3). In the third manager Dave Bornstein(2-3) led off with a single, Eric Rosenberg singled, Ryan Smith dropped one just inside the courts for a double scoring a run, then Brad Bennis doubled in two more for a 7-0 lead. Team Trifari finally gets on the board after finally turning the 16 player lineup around in the 5th. Mike Cobuzio led off with a single, father Rich walked, a fly ball moved Mike to third. Don Trifari singled over first to score Mike, Nick Adams singled scoring Rich, Joel Orris singled to load the bases. Then Mike Koonjy singled in a third run bringing the score to 7-3. Bases loaded, Mike Metz brings in another run with a fielder's choice, the league's RBI leader Rick Beyer is up but is MIV (Missing In Volleyball game), so Rick is skipped and the next batter flew out to end the inning. Team Bornstein leads 7-4 and adds two more in the bottom of the 5th when Brian Godau, Jared Citron and Dave Bornstein and Dave Schachman all single. Then Team Bornstein adds 4 more in the 6th when Mark Spotto singled, Joe Gianforte singled just over the left center fielder's glove, and Clay Petry singled to load the bases. Then Tom hits a 2 Baginski scoring two more runs, a fielder's choice and another Brian Godau single bring the score to 13-4 and team Bornstein holds on to win 14-4. Clay Petry leads all batters with 3 hits, a homerun and 3 RBI's.
