Close But No Kabab. Kabab Paradise came up just short of that elusive 1st win in a tough fought 9-6 loss to the Station. The Kabab was loaded tonight with all the top beef and the fan's over in Coppa's corner were Kababin all game. It got especially loud when Kabab tied the score in the 5th inning on a Mike Sabet rope to left. The Station was playing with only 9 after Don Jr left early and Andy Boyer was gutting it out with a bad back all game. In the bottom of the 5th with the score tied 4-4 Marty Eagan led off with a single, Ralph Aiello singled and Andy Reiser walks to load the bases for Mike Levine. This is a must win game for the Station in a tight playoff race and Mike gets his biggest hit of the year, a line single to left and this time nobody gets thrown out at third. :) The Station takes a 5-4 lead, then Dave Richmond plates another with a fielder's choice and with two outs Jared Kruger hits a big RBI single to make the score 7-4. Don Trifari doubles just past the right center fielder's glove and two more runs score. Don gets thrown out going to third but the Station is up 9-4. Kabab responds with 2 in the 6th when Jeff Brooks doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Jason Crimmins. Dave Auerbach singled, Ben Gabriel singled in a 2nd run and Kabab cuts the lead to 9-6 but that's it. The Station hangs on to pickup a crucial 10th win in a tight playoff race.
