Hold On To Your Hats, This One's Going To Be Close. Spielberger's Flip Saves the Game for Willie's. Maynard's jumps out to an early 6 run lead in the 2nd. Rich Citron started it with a lead off walk and with one out Steve Horowitz singled. Kay Klele singled and Jim Morris scored a run on a FC. With two outs Jack Berkowitz singled and Ron Liebowitz (2-3) singled to load the bases. Lead off batter Greg Espperson tripled scoring 3 more and Ryan Smith doubled into the courts for run number 6.Willie's gets it all back in the bottom of the 3rd when Jason Rhodes led off with a single. An error puts runners on 1st and 2nd and Matt Shupack singled to score a run. With an injured thumb Ryan Coletti singled and with one out Shawn Spielberger singled and a throwing error allows 3 runs to score. Patrick MacNamara singled home Shawn, Clay Petry singled, John Spielberger singled to load the bases. Then a throwing error to home allowed another run in. Marshall Baines hit a sac fly and it's 7-6 Willie's. Maynard's ties it in the 4th on a Jack Berkowitz single. Willie's Eric Buzzilli led off with a single to start the bottom of the 4th, followed by another Matt Shupak (2-3) single. Jake Spielberger singled to give Willie's back the lead 8-7. Brother Shawn(3-4) singled in another and the third run scored on a fielder's choice. Neither teams scores in the 5th or 6th innings. That brings up the top of the 7th and Maynard's is trailing by 3. Kay Klele works a lead off walk. Then after an out the hot Jack Berkowitz managed an infield single and the ball gets by the 1st baseman allowing Kay to score. Maynard's is down by two with one out and manager Ron Liebowitz is at the plate. He connects for a deep drive to right over the outfielder's head. As Ron rounds first he makes a grab for his hat and just gets in safely at third as the tying run. Leadoff batter Greg Espperson singled in Ron to tie the game and the ball gets under Clay's glove in left center. But John Spielberger is running full speed to backup Clay. He fields the ball at the fence and flips it to Clay. Clay guns the ball to third from the fence and a perfect one hopper to Shaun just nips the runner at third, so says the ump. What a play! (see the twitter feed replay). Maynard's fails to score another run and we go to the bottom of the 7th, tied 10-10. Shawn Spielberger leads off and loops a ball foul just a few feet from the left fielder. In his next swing he laces a single that gets by a diving Brian Cass and rolls to the fence. This time the outfielder is not backing up and gets a late jump allowing Shawn to fly all the way to third. Maynard's elects to pitch to the next batter and gets an infield out. Then decides to walk both Clay and John Spielberger to load the bases. With the infield in they get a gounder to short but the throw home is in the dirt and Shawn scores the winning run. Willie's takes it 11 Maynard's 10. Shawn Spielberger was 3-4 with 3 RBI's for Willie's and Greg Espperson and Jack Berkowitz both had 3 hits for Maynard's.
