The Temple is Closed on Sundays But That Doesn't Stop Leqqett's in 19-17 Comeback Win. For the 2nd straight day Leqqett's pulls a bait and switch. They giveaway a lot of runs the 1st inning and just when their opponent thinks it going to be an easy win, they switch pitchers. The strategy seems to be working. Tonight after Leqqett's put up 3 runs off a double by John Petrozzino(3-4), single by Dylan Tarlowe(5-5, 6 RBIs) and another homer by the hot Joe Giordano, they gave it all away in the bottom as Rooney's put up 7 runs. Leqqett's had 3 walks and 3 errors in the inning causing manager Jim Halpin to throw up his glove. But Leqqett's regroups with Lee Kornbluh coming back out of retirement. The middle of their lineup, Dylan Tarlowe and Joey G were again perfect going 9-9 with 10 RBI's and a walk. Leqqett's was trailing 13-6 in the 6th when Austin Tarlowe got things started with a one out single. Father Jeff singled and Temple Houston(4-4) who was hot with the bat followed with his 3rd single scoring Austin. Then with 2 out Robert Guibert smashes a hard grounder that hits Rooney first baseman Adam Steckleman in the mouth. Adam left the game and we hope he is OK. With the bases loaded John Petrozzino works an RBI walk, Dylan Tarlowe singles in two more. Joey G is intentionally walked with runners on 1st and 2nd to load the base. Jim Halpin comes through with a bloop single to left center scoring two more (so says the video, book was off and fixed). A throwing error then ties the game 13-13. With the score tied Rooney's puts together a nice ralley when Mark Davis doubles, Rich Cobuzio walked, Brad Hartung singled off Halpin's glove. Tony Garrett gives Rooney's the lead again with a fielder's choice. Kevin Zabransky(3-3) singled in a run, Jason Lew and Greg George both single and Eric Stivers hit a sac fly to put Rooney's up 17-13. In the top of the 7th Austin Tarlowe lead off with a liner that pops out of the 2nd baseman's glove. Jeff Tarlowe and Temple Houston both single to load the bases, With one out Rob Guibert singles in a run, John Petrozzino singles in another and Dylan Tarlowe ties it with another single down the line. Joe Giordano give Leqqett's the lead with a single and with two outs Lance Zacker comes through with an RBI single. Veteran pitcher Lee Kornbluh shuts down Rooney's top of the order to seal the 2nd straight comeback win for Leqqett's, 19-17. There were a few stat errors in the box score that are fixed in the stats.
