Game Highlights
Macon's Mark Armelino Strikes Out the Side to Wrap Up another Bacon Win 20-17. Macon was up 20-8 in the bottom of the 7th. The 3 runs they got in the top of the 7th didn't seem that important at the time. But in the most Bazaar inning I can remember, Somerset rallied for 9 runs off 8 hits and 2 walks to bring the tying run to the plate with 2 outs. Then pitcher Mark Armelino did what I think is an LVC first, he struck out the last batter for his 3 strikeout in one inning. Macon got a big game from Steve Deblasio(4-4 with a homer), Ken O'Brien(4-5) and Jon Cocchio(3-3 with a homer and 6 RBIs) while the Pats Dave Auerbach(3-4) homered and Chris Stappas and Michael Bedell were both 3-4. Mike had a great play at catcher and Jason Crimmins stole a homer from RJ Leonard(see twitter). Macon picks up it's 9th win and is guaranteed to be in at least some kind of tie breaker for the playoffs. Somerset drops to 5-12 but can still possibly make the playoffs if they win out and get a lot of help. It is possible the way the schedule looks, to have 4 teams tied with a 9-11 record or even 4 teams ending up with an 8-12 record. Macon and the Rail Riders both have 9 wins and play each other twice so one or both can finish with 10 wins, but most of the other teams battling for that final spot are not playing against one another.
