Game Highlights
Stappas Puts the Team On His Back as Somerset Finally Ends Their 7 Game Losing Streak. Patriots' manager Chris Stappas was 4-4 and helped his Patriots battle back to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Pat's need to win their last 3 games (Savanna and the Mets) and then gets some help to have a tiebreaker chance for the playoffs. They split with the Mud Hens who currently have 8 wins with one game left, but if the Iron Pigs and Yards Goats also finish with 8 things could get even more complicated. Today the Pats singled the Goats to death. The goats were short handed, playing with subs and speaking of subs, Ricky Bernstein hit an inside the park homerun batting lefty. The Pats took a 1 run lead in the 2nd after Lou Coppa(3-4) singled, Chris Stappas(4-4) singled and Lou scored on a sac by Paul Martino. They get 3 more in the 3rd after Calvin "one i" Kwock(3-4) singled, Vince Wolleon walked, Dave Auerbach(3-4) singled. RJ Leonard hit a sac fly and Lou Coppa singled in two more. In the bottom of the 3rd the Goats get on the board after sub Clay singled, Tony Garrett walked and Fred Heismeyer blasted a triple. Ryan Goodrich hit a sac fly and the Goats are back in it, trailing 4-3. In the 5th the Pat are on the attack went Vincent Wolleon singled, Dave Auerbach doubled in Vince, RJ Leonard singled in Dave, Chris Stappas singled and Paul Martino hit a sac fly. It's 7-3 Pats. In the bottom of the 6th the Goats get a break. Eric Buzzelli(2-3) singled and surprize, Aric Bernstein homers over the short playing centerfielders head. Goats have a shot, only down by 2, 7-5. But Somerset answers back in the top of the 7th when Lou Coppa starts another rally with a lead off single. Chris Stappas singled and so did Rob Huebner and Paul Martino as well. with two outs Calvin Kwock singled in the 3rd run and the Pat finally get a win 10-5.
