Mud Hens Lull the Iron Pigs to Sleep with some R&B. Dimitri Rassias and Aric Bernstein combined for 6-6 with 4 RBIs each including a Rassias triple and Bernstein homer. The Hens were clucking on both sides of the lineup with 26 combined hits. The Pigs were hot early taking a 7-2 lead into the 3rd. Jon Weiner had a 2B and 3B, John Boeckel two singles in those first two innings. But a costly lead off error in the 3rd and a Greg Espersen double set the table for Aric Bernstein who blasted his first homer over the short fence in right center. Nick Adams celebrated his 40th birthday with a double and scored on a sac fly by Jim Morris. Pigs are up 7-6. The Pigs expand their lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd on singles by Jim Halpin, Lance Zacker and Jason Benson but their4-6 lead didn't last long. Pat McNamara singled, Dimitri Rassias tripled, Mark Slayton singled to bring up the top of the order trailing by one. Craig Engelhardt(4-5) singled, Greg Espersen singled but Mark is thrown out at home. Bernstein is walked and Nick Adams singled to tied the game and the Pigs throw out their second runner at home. But the Pigs couldn't score the rest of the way and that setup the winning stroke by Dimitri Rassias in the 5th. Bruce Dostal, Keith Blicht and Heath Waldorf all single to load the bases for Dimitri who doubled over the left fielder's head to score all 3 runs. That was all the Hens needed and they go on to carve up the Pigs 16-9.
