Mets Finally Clinch the Number 1 Seed with a Win Over Patriots 22-8. The top half of the Mets order was the smoking gun tonight in this blow out win. Dave Plishka(3-4), Pete DeFrank(3-3), Derek Margiotta(4-4), Rick Beyer(3-4) and Rob Thomas(3-4). Combined 16-19. The Pats had 3 subs and sub Ryan Smith was 3-4 and Dave Auerbach was 3-4 with a homer. The Mets regular season is now over and they will have a long layoff till the playoffs in about 3 weeks. Although they crashed and burned, I wouldn't be suprized if the Patriots rally in the Wolford cup. At one point they were blowing teams out this season and they were missing their starting pitcher when their slide began. Congrats to David Plishka on winning the regular season in what could be his final year.
