Parker House Takes Wolford Cup on 9th Inning Schach-Off. Dave Schachman comes through with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th, breaking a 7-7 tie, handing draft specialist Rob Thomas and Parker House the 2021 Wolford Cup trophy. It was all BAR A through the first 5 innings as they built a 7-0 lead off key hits from Chris Stappas and a controversial 3 run homer by Tom Baginski that appeared go under the cable for the net in the tennis court that was not pulled closed. BAR A's D was strong with Jay Glickson stopping everything at short and Jesse Ferro and Mike Levine making some run saving scoops. But Parker house was sparked by a leadoff single by Dave Schachman in the 5th, But again for Parker House the game came down to a few timely bloops. The next batter Levi Heninger blooped a ball in short left that was dropped, followed by a Derek Lynn 4 pitch walk. Then with one out Jason Abfier got the 1st of his two big hits. Parker house is on the board 7-2. The next batter grounds to third and Mike Levine makes his 2nd big run saving scoop at home in the same inning. Now it's 2 outs with bases loaded for Parker House and manager Rob Thomas steps to the plate and grounds a single past third. The outfielder bobbles the ball and two more runs score. Cutting the BAR A lead to just 3, 7-4. Their not done yet. Jon Mach grounds a ball past a diving 2nd baseman scoring another and the throw home is off the mark and both runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd. BAR A is up 7-5. Jim Watkins hits a ball to third that's bobbled and another run sneaks home to pull Parker House to just 1. 7-6. BAR A finally gets out of the 5th holding a 1 run lead. Neither team scored again till the bottom of the 7th when Levi Heninger lead off with his second big blooper. The outfielders were playing back against the fence and this one fell just in front of the left fielder who ran a long way and almost made a great catch. BAR A makes another big mistake at 3rd which brings up Len Tarnoff with the tying run now at 2nd. Len grounds twards short but the 3rd baseman comes across to snag it, he couldn't tag the runner going to 3rd but throws the runner out at second. This brings up Jason Abfier who gets his second big hit, tying the game at 7-7. Parker House has the winning run at 2nd with 1 out but the next batter grounds to short and Jay Glickson steps on 2nd and gets the inning ending double play. Nether team scored in the 8th and in the bottom of the 9th Jason Benson leads off with a soft liner to left for a single. Matt Eisenberg redeems himself with a single up the middle (you'll have to ask Matt if you want to know more). Ralph Avallone singled to load the bases for Dave Schachman who ends up in a Jon Mach bear hug after his walk off single. Rumer has it that Parker house may still be at the field partying because the moon was out in the video and they were still celebrating. (waiting for the stats to be posted)
