He's Back! Phil Wolford Returns to LVC for Wolford Cup Opening Day. The night started with Phil throwing out the game ball and ended with Wet Willie's, the league's top seeded team, being the first team eliminated from the Cup with a 19-6 loss to Leqqett's. Before Willie's knew what hit them, it was Leqqett's pounding ball after ball to either down the 3rd baseline or out to the hole in right center. With the 5:30?? start both team were only fielding 9 players. Leqqett's takes a 12-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd on 5 walks, 5 doubles and a triple. Leqqett's might not have gone to the temple yesterday but they certainly did tonight. In the first inning, trailing 1-0, Jason Davis leads off with a walk, John Petrozzino also walked and Jim Halpin loads the bases with a single. Now Leqqett's is missing their two sluggers, Dylan Tarlowe and Joe Giordiano but that didn't slow them down tonight. Ken Horan(4-5) picked up the slack batting 5th and singled home the first Leqqett run. Lance Zacker walked in another and Scott O'Neil hit an infield single to put Leqqett's up by two. Then Leqqett's goes to the Temple as Mr. Houston drove a deep 3 run double to right center. Leqqett's takes a 6-1 lead in the 1st. They get 6 more in the 2nd on doubles by Barry Davis, John Petrozzio, Scott O'Neill and Jim Halpin, then a big triple by Ken Horan. Each shot hitting the gaps in the 3 man outfield. Later in the game John Petrozzio showed some power with a 3 run homer to left center. Jon Cocchio arrived in the 5th for Wille's but it was already over as Leqqett's was leading 17-2 after 4. The bright spot for Wet Willie's was that Clay Petry was 4-4 and looked like he was feeling better. But they will have to wait till the finals to get back on the field.
