How to fix network sharing on Windows 11 after update 24h2

Issue: If you are sharing files on your scoring computer with other clients on your network. Windows 11 24h2 update could break that functionality with it's enhanced security settings.  Here is how to turn it back on again.

Note: Try this on the client workstation first and see if it works. If not then also run this on the server workstation.

If you are running Windows 11 Professional Edition

1. Open the Group Policy Editor with one of these 3 methods

  • Press the Windows Key + R
  • Tap and hold the Windows Key and Choose Run
  • in the Search box start typing gpedit.msc then choose it from the list

 

2. Browse to Administrative Templates > Network > Lanman Workstation

 

3. Open the Enable insecure guest logons setting (double click)

 

4. Check the Enabled option, then click Apply

5. Reboot your computer
