Davis Catch Leaves Beagles Howling. Barry Davis's shoe string grab in the first inning turn what looked like a big inning for the Beagles into a one and done. Playaz strike first when Alex Conklin hit a solo homer in the 1st. However the Beagles come out barking when Greg George doubled and the next batter reached on a wild throw. So two on, no out and the meat of the Beagles lineup with Ralph Fariello coming up with Mike Metz behind him. Ralph hit what looked like an easy single to right center but Barry Davis races in a makes a shoestring grab, then proceeds to run all the way to first base to force out the runner who left early. The Beagle bench began howling at the field umpire who was in perfect position to make the call. In the mean time the runner at second scored but the result was two outs and Mike Metz up with the bases clear. Mike singled but the inning ended on a fly out and the Beagle wouldn't score again till the 6th. The Playaz picked up two more runs in the second when John Spielberger singled, advanced to second on a fly ball and scored when son Shaun singled. Ralph Aiello walked and Brad Botelho hit one off the right center fielder's glove for run number two. Playaz lead 3-1. In the 4th Jake Spielberger singled then Alex Conklin blasted a monster shot to deep left, Playaz are up 5-1. In the 5th the Playaz bottom gets hot when Ralph Aiello led off with a single, Brad Botelho and Jeff Tarlowe both singled with Jeff scoring Ralph. Jim Laden picked up a sac fly, and Mike Levine hit a big two out single to center to score Jeff. Playaz lead 8-1. The Playaz expand their lead in the 6th when Eric Rosenberg singled, Alex Conklin doubled, Don Trifari tripled in Eric and Alex and the Playaz lead 10-1. The Beagles finally get some runs in the bottom of the 6th when Pat McNamara singled, Mike Metz singled and Lou Coppa singled home a run, Dave Richmond singled in another to cut the lead to 10-3. But the Playaz have a huge 9 run inning in the 7th where all 14 players batting, 11 hits and 9 runs later they are up 19-3 and that's how it ended.
