LOB - Lusty Leopard 8, Playaz Club 6
5 TOTAL BASES
7 TOTAL BASES
Playaz Heat Up in the 6th. The Playaz got off to a slow start and trailed the Leopards 2-0 in the 3rd. Lusty scored first when Dave Schachman singled, Nick Adams singled and a wild throw scored Dave. Then Brad Bennis(3-4) singled in Nick for a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 3rd Playaz Jim Laden walked, then with two outs Eric Rosenberg singled, Shaun Spielberger(4-4) singled and bam! Alex Conklin wacks a line drive, grandslam. Playaz are up 4-2. The Leopards claw back in the 4th when Kevin Petry singled, an error and walk later the bases are loaded. The next batter gounds to the pitcher who throws to Mike Johnson at home for one out. Dave Schachman knocks in a run with a fielder's choice, then Nick Adams singled in a run, Keith Blicht doubles into the courts for another run and Brad Bennis gets a key two run single and the Leopards are up 7-4. With two outs the Playaz get it rolling again when Austin Tarlowe(2-3) singled, Ralph Aiello(3-3) singled, Jeff Tarlowe(2-3) singled to load the bases for Jim Laden who singled down third to score two. Leopards lead 7-6. Leopards add more in the 5th when Dave Bornstein reached on error, Kevin Petry walked, Ryan Coletti singled and Dave Manheim scored one on a fielder's choice. John Machiski sacs in another to extend their lead to 9-6. The Playaz top of the order failed to score in the bottom of the 5th and the Leopards add another two in the top of the 6th when Keith Blicht took advantage of an empty left field for a double, then with two outs Clay Petry singled and David Bornstein singled to left to score Keith and another bad throw allows a second run to score. Leopards lead 12-6. But then the fever hits and John Spielberger (playing with a real fever) led off with a walk. Steve DeBlasio, who hit two balls to the fence eariler, finally gets one in the air for a two run homerun. Austin Tarlowe doubled into the tennis courts, Ralph Aiello continued his great day at the plate with a single, Jeff Tarlowe comes up big with another single scoring son Austin. Then after two outs and the Playaz trailing 12-10 Mike Johnson draws a walk to load the bases. Eric Rosenberg walks to score a run and Shaun Spielberger gets an infield single to tie the game and bring up Alex Conklin with the bases loaded. Having walked Alex already the Leopards put on a big shift putting all their outfielders in left and left center. But Alex crushes on to dead center, over the overlapping fence and hitting the back fence (should it be a homer?). Alex knocks in 3 runs with a triple and scores on a single by Don Trifari. The Playaz lead by 4 15-11. In the top of the 7th Ryan Coletti leads off with a double, then after an out and an error Ryan Coletti scores cutting the lead to 3. The next batter flys out then comes the controversy, Nick Adams hits a hard grounder to third that Shaun Spielberger gloves and throws to second and the umpire in the field calls the runner out and the Playaz begin to celebrate, but the Leopards argue that the fielder at 2nd bobbled the ball and the runner should be safe. The homeplate umpire overrules and they change the call. Now the tying run comes to the plate but the next batter flys out to right and the game is officially over, the Playaz come from behind with 9 runs in the 6th to defeat the league leading Leopards. Alex Conklin was 2-3 with 7 RBI's and Shaun Spielberger was a perfect 4-4. Ralph Aiello was 3-3 and Jeff Tarlowe had a solid game going 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBI's and some nice plays in the outfield for the Playaz. For the Leopards Keith Blicht was 3-5 and Brad Bennis was 3-4 with 3 RBI's.
