The Championship is on the Line. The Playaz and Peach Pit meet in the finals of the 2018 Wolford Cup and the sun was finally shining at LVC for a change. This was a low scoring defensive battle with just one big blow in the 4th inning by Alex Conklin. The Playaz lost the toss again and are the visitor and batting 15 to Peach Pit's 10 = 50% more Playaz. The Playaz Eric Rosenberg gets things started with a single up the middle but get picked off after Ken Crimmins gets a glove on Jake Spielberger's line drive, deflecting it to Mike Amoia at second who catches it on the fly and throws Eric out at first. That brings up Alex Conklin with two outs and nobody on. Alex wastes no time in drilling the first pitch to deep left giving the Playaz an early 1-0 lead. Pit answers right back when Mike Koonjy singles and after two out Brian Koonjy singles to score Mike. Score tied 1-1. Neither team scores in the 2nd. In the bottom of the 2nd Peach Pit takes the lead when Mike Koonjy singled, Tony Garrett singled, Jason Crimmins singled to score Mike and Pit is up 2-1. The Playaz answer back in the 4th when Eric Rosenberge leads off with an on by error. Jake Spielberger(2-3) keeps it away from Kenny this time for a single to right center bringing up Alex Conklin with no outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. Alex drilled a line drive homerun to left giving the Playaz a 4-2 lead. Neither team scored in the 5th. In the 6th the Playaz pick up a big run when Jeff Tarlow(2-2) singles for the 2nd time, moves to 2nd on Jim Laden's single. Andy Boyer singled to load the bases with no outs. Then Mike Levine rips a line drive to left that Jon Sanzone fields and throws to third for the force out (no hit) but a big RBI for Mike and the Playaz are up 5-2. The Pit has their top of the order up in the bottom of the 6th and Tony Garrett and Jason Crimmins both single but are left stranded as the next two batter fly out. In the top of the 7th the Playaz pick up another when Jake Spielberger leads off with a single, Alex Conklin is intentionally walked. Don Trifari hits a line drive to right that is caught but Jake is able to tag up to third. John Spielberger then scores Jake with a sac fly and insurance run. The Playaz lead 6-2. In the bottom of the 7th Pit's Chris Koonjy and Mike Amoia both single but the Playaz end the game with a force out at third and the Playaz win the 2018 Wolford Cup 6-2. The championship is Playaz manager John Spielberger's first ever cup, congrats to John and the Playaz on a nice team win.
