Puleo's Bid For 1st Place Gets Nixed by Tito's 22-21. Tito's Burritos and Puleo's Brick Oven cook up a great battle for the top spot on the leader board. Tito's, playing without their star outfielder John Spielberger who injured his shoulder last week, jumps out to a quick 10-0 lead after 2. Shaun Spielberger(3-3) got things going for Tito's with a single, Mark Davis gets on with a fielder's choice, Clay Petry who had a big game with 5 hits including a HR, followed with a single to score Shaun. Then with two outs Paul Martino singles home Mark and Clay. Tito's is up 3-0. Puleo's goes down 1,2,3 for the second time and Tito's makes them pay with 7 more runs capped by a Jason Hamberger triple. Puleo's finally gets on the board when Chuck Puleo singled to start the 3rd, Vince Wolleon(4-5) singled, Eric Rosenberg singled, Adam Steckelman singled in the first run before Mark Spotto doubled home two more, then Joe Giordano hits a hotsy totsy 3 run homerun and Puleo's is back trailing only 10-7. Tito's puts up 4 more n the bottom to take a 14-7 lead and Puleo's battles back in the 5th with 6 more runs after Mark Spotto got things started with a lead off double into the tennis court. The big blow in the inning was a Cliff Neukrug's two run triple to right center, Tito's leads by just 2, 13-15. Tito's managed one run in the bottom of the 5th when Clay Petry cashed in on an inside the park solo shot. Puleo's takes the lead in the 6th when Mark Spotto leads off again with a single, Al Puleo doubles off the tennis court fence, RJ Leonard doubled in the gap in left center before getting thrown out trying to stretch a triple. Chuck Puleo triples, bringing the tying run to 3rd, Vince Wolleon singled before Dave Kaiser rips one right over the bag at 3rd, Then Cliff Neukrug walks to load the bases for Eric Rosenberg who singled home two and puts Puleo's up for the first time. Adam Steckelman singled and Puleo's is up 19-16. Jerry Fragetti gets on by error in the bottom of the 6th then two straight outs before Ryan Coletti singled and Shaun Spielberger singled to score a run. Mark Davis singles home another and Clay Petry continues his perfect game with a game tying single to center. That brings up Casey Nix with two on an two outs in a tie game. Casey drives the first ball over the fence, but foul, he crushes the next pitch over the fence just to the left of the foul pole, another foul ball. The third time is a charm as this one stays fair and it's deep over the left field wall, a 3 run homer and Tito's is takes a 3 run lead, all with 2 outs. Puleo's gets a lead off singled by Joe Giordano before RJ Leonard blasts a 2 run homer cutting the lead to one with one out. Chuck Puleo drills a ball that Ryan Coletti dives and makes a great stop, then drills a one hopper to first that Nick Agnoli makes a great scoop to nip Chuck, (see twitter replay) and Tito's hangs on to 1st place in this 22-21 thriller. Too many players had a great day at the plate to list them all, both teams had 29 hits but it was Casey Nix who Nixed the comeback by Puleo's with the big 3 run blast.
