Columbia is Good Till the Last Drop in 14-13 8th Inning Comeback. The Columbia Inn blew a great opportunity to close out Puleo's in the bottom of the 7th then rally down by 3 in the bottom of the 8th to get the win. It was a tight back and forth game with Columbia brewing early and picking up 3 in the bottom of the 1st when Jonathan Drillings walked, David Drillings singled and the hot Mike Cobuzio(3-3) singled in a run. Rick Beyer(2-3) singled in another and the third was sacked in by Gary Drillings. Puleo's gets three in the 2nd when Joe Giordano, RJ Leonard(3-3) singled, Chuck Puleo sacked in Al who reached on error and Dave Kaiser singled to tie the game at 3. Columbia's Mark Fedele walked and with two outs Jason Dickert comes through with a single and Jonathan Drillings(3-4) put Columbia Inn back up with a single. Neither team scored in the 3rd and Puleo's gets back on top in the 4th when Al Puleo reached on Error and scored on a homer by RJ Leonard. Puleo's is up 5-4. Columbia's pot is cold again in the 4th and Puleo's keeps their pattern of scoring every other inning going with another goose egg of their own. Columbia gets the mojo going in the 5th when Jonathan Drillings singled, David reached on error, Mke Cobuzio doubled in one to tie it and bang, Ricky Beyer drives one over the right center fence for a 3 run homer. Rich Cobuzio singled and scored on a double by Kevin Zabransky and the beans on top 9-5. Doesn't last long as Puleo's Adam Steckelman singles to lead off the 6th, Mark Spotto singled, Joe Giordano singled, Al Puleo singled, RJ Leonard drives in two with a single then two balls back to the pitcher and a throwing error at home help Puleo's regain the lead 10-9. Columbia goes down 1,2,3 and Puleo's gets their lead off batter on in the top of the 7th when Joel Orris singles, but the top of the order fails to get him home. That brings up the bottom of the 7th, top of the Columbia Inn lineup is coming up, trailing by only 1. Jonathan Drillings sneaks a 2 strike grounder past short and turns it into a double. Then two fly balls and Jonathan tags to tie the game at 10. Puleo's decides to walk the dangerous Ricky Beyer and it works. In the top of the 8th Puleo's Joe Giordan singled and RJ Leonard walks on 4 pitches. Chuck Puleo comes up with a big single to move Joe over to third, Vince Wolleon drives a deep ball to left center for a sac fly, then Dave Kaiser hits a short line drive to right center and Rick Cobuzio appears to have it but gets distracted by the center fielder and it results in two more Puleo runs. Columbia now has the bottom of the lineup coming up, down by 3 and Puleo's is smelling the coffee. Then with one out Kevin Zabransky drops a blooper in just behind 2nd, Mark Fedele singled off the shortstops chest, Ken Nemeth drops a single into short right, putting the tying run at 1st for Kevin Jr who chops a ball between 3rd and short to score one bringing up Jason Dickert with one out and the tying run on 2nd. Jason Dickert singled to score one and Johathan Drilling ties the game with a grounder to short that Mark Spotto makes a nice play on in the hole and throws the runner out going to third. This brings up David Drillings who singles over short and Rich Cobuzio, running for the injured Jason Dickert, scores easily from second. With win Columbia moves into second place in the standings and Puleo's drops to 4th.
