Berliner is Back!! But Rooney's is Flat Without Hartung. Leqqett's Punches Their Playoff Card with a 9-3 Victory. After a long illness and rehab LVC Softball is happy to have Cliff Berliner back on the field. Fans gathered and cheered Cliff on as he took his first swing of the season. But it was all Leqqett's in this one, putting up 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st on 5 straight hits by Jim Halpin, Dylan Tarlowe, Joe Giordano(4-4), Rob Guibert(3-4) and Lance Zacker(3-4). Leqqett's added two more in the 2nd after Lee Kornbluh(2-3), who had a great game at the plate and the mound, started the inning with a single. With two outs Joe Giordano singled, Rob Guibert singled in his 3rd run and Lance Zacker singled in his second. Leqqett's went up 6-0 and after Rooney's cut it to 6-3 in the 5th, they added another 3 to put this one in the books. Rooney's got most of their hits from 3 players. Mark Davis was 3-3, Greg George and Evan Orris were 2-2. Leqqett's got a big day from their 2,3,4,5 batters who were 12-16 and Scott O'Neill who was 3-3. The win guarantees Leqqett's a spot in the playoffs because they beat both Rooney's and Irish Pub both times they played them and Rooney's and Irish Pub have to play each other. So the most we can have is 6 teams with 11 wins.
