D'Jais Comes Out Swinging led by Manager's Dave Auerbach's 3 Homerun Blasts. Maybe Dave Auerbach's hair finally grew back because his bat was pretty quiet for the past 3 games. But today he had all his strength back and blasted homerun after homerun to lift D'Jais past a solid Bar A team. D'Jais was trailing 2-1 in the 2nd when a scary play at home nearly knocked Nick Adams out for the season. Nick was running for Paul Martino who singled to start the inning. Then Brian Quinn(4-4), who needs to provide a urine sample after this game, also singled, moving Nick to 2nd. The next batter grounds to 2nd and Bar A tries to turn the double play and the ball gets by first baseman Jesse Ferro. Nick races home and Jesse makes an off balanced throw home that tips off the catcher's glove and strikes Nick in the side of the head. There was a lot of groaning and everyone raced home to see if Nick was OK. He evently got back up and finished the game with a homer so he seems OK. BAR A was hitting well the first 3 innings, leading 4-3 on two singles by Jon Weiner and singles by Ryan Goodrich, Dave Richman, Jesse Ferro, Pete DeFrank and Ralph Fariello. But after the 4th their bats went cold and that 12 man lineup just couldn't turn over. So let's get to that big 5th inning when D'Jais took control of this game. It was the top of the order, Matt Picon who ripped a hard ground by the shortstop for a single. Mark Spotto followed going fence to fence. He ripped a homer foul to left, then put the next ball over the right field fence for a double. Dave Auerbach stepped in and crushed a deep 3 run homer to left. Brad Bennis(5-5) doubled, Paul Martino singled, the mighty Quinn singled in another run before Craig Engelhardt tripled to right center for 2 more runs. Deron Green scored another D'Jais bats around picking up 7 runs in the inning. In the 6th they get another homer, this time from Brad Bennis, a two run shot. Nick Adams hits a solo homer and D'Jais rolls to a 16-4 playoff victory. They face Parker House Sunday and I am sure they are trying to figure out how they are going to pitch to them with 4 different players hitting the ball over the fence today. Game time is 5:30. For Bar A that's the second disappointing loss in a row. Jon Weiner led them going 2-3 and was the only batter on Bar-A with 2 hits. D'Jais outhit Bar A 24-9, but can they keep it going against Parker House??
