How Many Leqqett's Does It Take To Knock Wet Willie's Out Of Both The Wolford Cup and the Regular Season Playoffs? 1,2,...9.. It Takes 9 Leqqett's! What more can you say about this Leqqett's team. Early in the season they were disorganized, forgetting their gloves and cleats. They almost got merced by both Triton and the Headliners, the leagues two last place teams. I mean back in June they were just 2-4 and were trailing the Headliners 14-0 in the top of the first. But somehow they got it together when they made some defensive adjustments, and roared back to squeak out that 18-17 win that changed their season. They went on a roll winning 5 straight games until, guess who, Wet Willie's beat them twice. Now for the second time Leqqett's manages to beat Wet Willie's while only fielding 9 guys. Again, Wet Willie's wets the bed and even John Cocchio couldn't save them this time with his homer and double. The Davis' played another big part of this win, Jason and Barry, batting 1st and 2nd, were both on 4 times and each scored 3 runs. This father and son combo was for 7-9, scoring 6 of Leqqett's 10 runs and Barry blew the game open in the 5th, with a deep double that almost hit the fence (see photo). They didn't even get much help from the middle of their lineup as their 3,4,5 batters combined for just 4-13, but Lance Zacker stepped up and ripped 3 hard singles. Each time Wet Willie's look like they were going to have a big inning, Rob Guibert shut them down with a great play at shortstop. Willie's managed only 8 hits off backup pitcher Temple Houston, who pitched the game of his life. He even struck out that fast guy on Willie's, who's name I won't mention, with runners at 1st and 3rd, trailing 7-5 in the 4th with 2 outs. So Leqqett's completes the Willie's playoff sweep and advances to the finals against Parker House next Saturday for a 2 out of 3 championship series.
