Shorthanded La Cosa Nostra Handles the Winter 16-11. La Cosa Nostra was only fielding 9 players tonight, but they were cruising through the Winter Hill Gang like a good set of snow tires. After 4 LCN was up 12-4. LCN boss Dean Sottile had stirred up the lineup and had Jon Drillings leading off. Jon finished the night with 4 hits and 3 runs scored. The big inning was the 2nd where LCN's Shanth Subbiah(3-5) started a rally with one out. Dean Sottile singled and Jon Drillings singled to load the bases. Chris Mazur hit a sac fly and with two outs they get some game breaking hits. Ralph Avallon(3-5) singled in a second run, Dave Schachman singled in another, then big night Bob Vogt(4-5) doubled in the fourth run. Kyle Francis singled to give La Cosa Nostra a 7-1 lead. They added another in the 3rd and 4 more in the 4th to take a 12-1 lead. But Winter Hill finally got some breaks in the bottom of the 4th when LCN made 2 fielding errors. Rick DelGizzi hit his first of 2 doubles, Mark Armelino hit a sack fly and with two out Mug Naveendra(4-4) who had the hot bat for WHG, singled in a 3rd run. LCN added 4 more in the 6th and every LCN batter had at least 2 hits as they take a 16-8 into the 7th. WHG made it interesting after Lou Coppa singled, RJ Leonard singled and with two outs Mark Armelino, Abe Heller and Mug Naveendra all single to cut the lead to just 4 with the top of the order coming up. But Dave Schachman snags a ball up the middle and LCN takes this one 16-11.
