Max is Back! The Gambinos start off strong building an 8-2 lead after 2. But Max Metz(3-4 with 8 RBIs), who is back from vacation, hit two big 3 run homers in both the 2nd and 3rd innings to keep La Kosher Nostra close till that big 5th inning. With the Gambino Family up 11-8 in the bottom of the 4th, and two outs and nobody on, sub Rick Beyer singled. McNamara Jr singled and Pat Sr reached on error and it turned out to be a big one. Rick Beyer scored cutting the lead to 11-9. Brian Cass hit a pop infield single halfway to third to load the bases. He raised his hand in triumph as he got to first. That brought up Malachi Metz(3-4), who was also back, with the bases loaded, two outs, and LKN trailing by 2. Malachi comes through with a big opposite field double that gave LKN their first lead of the game 12-11 (see photo). That changed the momentum and the Gambino's did not score a run in the 5th inning. So LKN is up by 1 in the bottom of the 5th and Heath Waldorf hits a fly ball behind third that pop out of the 3rd baseman's glove. Then again with 2 outs Pat McNamara reaches on error. Brian Cass drills a run scoring single and Malachi Metz singled between short and 3rd to score another. Then came the play that probably killed the game for the Gambino's. Max Metz hit a routine fly ball to left center, both fielders are under the ball but somehow it was dropped. Two more runs scored giving LKN a 16-11 lead. Greg Auerbach(4-5) singled in Max and that was all LKN needed as they hold on for a 17-14 win. The Gambinos hit the ball well too with Rob Guilbert going 4-4, Kay Kiele was 3-4, Levi Henninger and Jim Gesualdo were both 2-3 and Dave Auerbach was 2-2 with 2 walks.
