La Kosher Dodges a Bullet in the Bottom of the 7th. It was a big game for both teams and it went down to the wire with a nail bitter finish. The win would have given Goodfellas a lock for a 2nd place bye. For La Kosher it meant a guaranteed playoff birth. LKN left the bases loaded in the top of the first and Goodfellas put up a deuce with 2 outs and nobody on. Brad Hartung(3-3) walked and on the next pitch Jon Cocchio(2-2) blasted a homer just over the foul pole. Ken Nemeth doubled in the 2nd but LKN didn't score. Aiden Mach(3-3) singled, Jared Kuroptakin singled and Andy Boyer singled to load the bases with one out. Jon Mach hit a sac fly and GoodFellas is up 3-0. LKN strikes back in the 3rd to tie the score. Jay Clickson(3-4) singled, Malachi Metz(3-4), who is probably the hottest batter in the league right now if you count all his games subbing, singled, Brian Cass hit into a fielder's choice that could have been a double play but the first baseman came off the bag. That brings up Max Metz with 1st and 3rd and one out. Max launches a missle down the line for a 3 run, game tying homer. Goodfellas regains the lead in the bottom of the 3rd with two outs again Brad Hartung triples and Jon Cocchio singled him home. LKN doesn't score in the 4th and Goofellas gets another when Aiden Mach singled, Jared Kuroptakin(2-3) singled and Andy Boyer flew out to center and the throw to 3rd went out of play for a run to give Goodfellas a 5-3 lead. With one out Jay Glickson singled the with 2 outs Brain Cass singled. With runners at 1st and 3rd Max Metz is walked. Pat McNamara Jr makes them pay with a 2 run single. Game is tied 5-5 after 5. No scores in the 6th so it's on to the 7th with the score tied 5-5. Malachi Metz leads off with a single, Brain Cass singled up the middle moving Mal to third. Pat McNamara Jr(2-3) bloops a run scoring single to right. Lance Zacker singled down the line to score another then with two outs Evan Orris gets his biggest hit of the season. A line single up the middle to score 2 more big runs. LKN takes a 9-5 lead into the bottom, will it be enough. Jim Watkins leads off for Goodfellas with a line single to left, then with one out Jason Lew and Brad Hartung both single to load the bases. Jon Cocchio is up as the tying run and La Kosher must pitch to him because they walked him in the 5th. They dodge a bullet has Jon hits a deep sac fly. The next batter flys out and Lance Zacker's La Kosher Nostra clinches a playoff birth with the 9-6 win. Goodfellas has to wait for La Cosa to play 2 more games to see if they finish 2nd or 3rd.
