Johnny Cakes Edges Closer to the Playoffs with a 6-3 Win over the Medigans. It was a big 3rd inning that was all Johnny Cakes needed to take out the Medigans in a big playoff battle for the final spot. If the Medigans won both games of their double header today, they would have locked in the final playoff spot. If they lose both they are out. JC gots their runs when Adam Handler got his 1st of 2 walks. Jigar Desai singled and with one out Pete DeFrank singled to load the bases for John Weiner(3-4). John hit his second double in the courts to score 2 runs. Clay Petry(2-3) hit a sac fly and Ryan Goodrich singled in the last run. Up 4-1 the Medigans super sub Max Metz(2-3) singled off Pete DeFrank's glove with one out in the 4th. Nick Adams went long but it was caught at the fence and Max went to 2nd. With 2 outs Jesse Ferro doubled in Max as Clay tried for the diving catch but it got by him. Then Jason Crimmins doubled in the courts to score Jessie. Johnny Cakes is up just 4-3. They pick up 2 more in the 5th when Pete DeFrank and John Weiner both singled and Clay Petry doubled to right to score Pete. Paul Martino picks up a sac fly and Johnny Cakes hangs on to win 6-3. If they can beat the Irishman they will lock in the 6th seed, if not there could be some tiebreakers if Winter Hill or the Gambinos win out. Johnny Dangerously may have a shot if the Irish win and there are tiebreakers.
