Patriots Charge Past the Rail Riders 9-8. The Patriots pick up 5 big runs in the first with two outs. John Petrozzino(4-4) was awake for this game and did a lot of damage. He was 4-4 with a triple in the 1st inning, gunned down a runner at home and robbed a potential home run at the fence. Lou Coppa(2-3) who protected the fort at third with some stellar plays, singled and then came the big blow. The Rail Riders moved their left center fielder in and Vince Wolleon made them pay with a two run triple. Bret Hartman popped a double right out of the outfield's glove and commander Stappas singled in the 5th run. Trailing 6-0 in the 4th the Rail Riders finally get on track and put up 8 runs. Dean Sottile got it started with a single, Jay Glickson singled and Brian Cass reached on error. Don Trifari(2-3) singled in two, Bob Vogt(2-3) singled in another, Jared Kuropatkin singled to load the bases. Then with two outs Joel Orris(2-3) gets a big single scoring two more, Kay Klele singled to tie the game, Ron Liebowitz went opposite for a run scoring single and Dan Ochs singled in the 8th run. The Rail Riders are up 8-6. Rob Huebner dropped in a single and with two outs John Petrozzino singled. Dave Auerbach singled down the line to score Rob and a bad throw brought John home and moved Dave over to third. With the game tied RJ Leonard singled and the Patriots retake the lead. Jay Glickson kept the game close with some great plays at short for the Rails and Jared Kuropatkin came a foot short of tying the game with a homer that Johnny Pet robbed. The Patriots hang on to win and even their record at 1-1
