Game Highlights
Pigs Rise Up from the Mud to Bit the Bananas 10-9 in the first game of the Wolford Cup. Savanna jumps out to a 5-0 first inning lead off 3 straight doubles by Ryan Coletti, Clay Petry and Kurt Heim(3-4). Then 3 straight singles by Jason Wertheimer(4-4), Kyle Francis and John Sanzone. But then they go limp till the 5th as the bottom of the order slumped. The Pigs fight back and get a big day from Brad Hartung (4-4) and Chuck Puleo(3-4) who had a big 2 out RBI in the 7th to finally put the Pigs ahead by 1. The Pigs were down 8-6 in the top of the 7th when Brian Godau sparked them with a leadoff single between 3rd and short. A big error and a Brad Hartung single load the bases with no outs. Jared Bruno picks a great time to line his first RBI single before Jon Mach makes a great play robbing Marty Eagan up the middle. Lance Zacker ties the game with a sac fly and with two outs Chuck Puleo singled to put the pigs up one. Then Eric Rosen(who?) was back from the shore and hit what turned into the game winning RBI. Savanna was down 2 in the bottom of the 7th when Ryan Coletti hit a one out single. Chuck throws some nice pitches to the #2 batter to get a big fly out. Kurt Heim singled. The hot Jason Wertheimer singled to move the Bananas to within one. But a fly out shuts the lights on the Savanna season while the Pigs are wallowing in the mud.
