Rail Riders Get Back On Track with First Victory, 13-7 over the Undefeated Mets. Jay Glickson gave the Rail Riders a motivating pre-game speech but the Mets came out swinging in the first. With one out Pete DeFrank(2-3) singled, Derek Lynn walked and Rick Beyer singled to score Pete. Bob Plishka singled, Derek Margiotta walked with the bases loaded and Andrew Conrow hit a sac fly and the Mets are up 3-0. Then we realize we are using a girls fastpitch ball by mistake. Rails goes down quickly. With the new ball in the 2nd Nick Catanese blasts a double and scored on a single by Kevin Zabransky Jr. Neither team scored till the 4th when Nick Catanese(3-3) singled and scored on a single by Dave Plishka. The Mets are winning 5-0 and it looks like they may be headed to another easy win. But in the bottom of the 4th the luck changed from the Rail Riders. Jay Glickson lined a single, Don Trifari singled up the middle, then the Rail Riders first break of the season. Jared Kuropatkin(3-4) hits are hard grounder off the 3rd baseman's glove that gets fielded by by the short stop deep in the hole. They throw to third and Jay Glickson just beats the throw (so says the ump). Base loaded, no outs. Brian Cass(2-3), Bob Vogt(2-3), Joel Orris(2-3) all single and it's now 5-3. Victor Cardona hits a slow dribbler and the throw to home is late. Kay Klele(3-3) singled, Mark Fedele hits a sac fly and the Rail Raders are up 6-5. St Lucie goes down 1,2,3 and Rails bats around again after Daniel Ochs reaches by error, Dean Sottile(2-3) singled, Don Trifar singled to load the bases and Jared Kuropatkin lines a deep single to left center to score two more. Brian Cass singled in another, Bob Vogt hit s fielder's choice to score a 4th run, Joel Orris singled and with two outs Victor Cardona works a long atbat and finally singled to center scoring one more. Kay Klele doubled in the 7th run and the Rail Riders are up 13-5. St Lucie picks up 2 in the 7th and the Rail Riders get their first win 13-7.
