The Resurgent Goats Climb up the Standings with 15-11 Win over the Pigs. This game was a great battle with the Pigs holding a 1 run lead after 3 at 10-9. But the Pigs got stuck in the mud and only put up one more run the rest of the way. Some great defense by Ralph Avallone in left center stopped a potential Pig rally in the 5th when Frank McNally hit what looked like a sure gapper. This game started super close, after Goat Lee Ehudin singled, Tony Garrett singled and Dave Schachman hit a sac fly to put the Goats up 1-0. Chuck Puleo tripled for the Pigs and scored on a Jon Weiner single. After 1 we are tied at 1-1. In the 2nd both teams scored 3 runs. Ryan Goodrich(3-3) singled, Ralph Avallon(3-3) singled before Chris Mazur hit one of his two doubles to score both runners. Eric Buzzelli singled and Bob Fass(2-3), singled in the Goats 3rd run. Goats up 4-1. But the Pigs match it with singles from Jared Bruno(4-4), Marty Eagan,Greg Kohn and a big two out, two run single by Mike Heisheimer. Great start, it's 4-4 after 2. Both teams crushed the ball in the 3rd. The Goats put up 5 after an error and 3 straight doubles by Ryan Goodrich, Ralph Avallone and Chris Mazur and a single by Jigar Desai. The Pigs have their top of the order up and Chuck Puleo walks followed by double from Jon Weiner, Brad Hartung and singles from Frank McNally, Jim Halpin and the hot Jared Bruno. Chris Cappo singled in a 5th run and Greg Kohn put the Pigs ahead on a fielder's choice. Pigs are up 10-9. Down by one, Bob Fass works a leadoff walk, Lee Ehudin singled and Fred Heismeyer hits a game changing triple putting the Goats up by 1. Dave Schachman hits another sac fly and it's 12-10 Goats after 4. The Goats get one in the 5th after Ryan Goodrich doubled and scored on a single by Steven Sroka. In the 7th up 13-10, Fred Heismeyer singled and scored on a triple down the left field line by Dave Schachman. Dave scored on Ryan Goodrich's sac fly to push the lead to 5. The Pigs give a little squeal in the 7th after a single and error. But a great back hand play by Jigar at third and a big scoop by Bob Fass at first, stopped any hopes for a big Pig rally. The Pigs drop their 4th straight and drop way down to 9th place, while the Yard Goats stayed sober and are back in the playoff picture, currently sitting in 6th place.
