Olde Heller Fires Up the Pirates with Mid Game Speech. Pirates respond with 9 runs to Sink the 1st Place Mets 9-6. The Mets were cruising with a 4-0 lead in the 5th and it looked like the Ghost Pirates were napping. Dave Plishka(4-4) knew his team could clinch 1st place with a couple of wins. David singled in the 1st, followed by a single from Pete DeFrank, then holy cow, Rick Beyer finally made an out. Rob Thomas walked to load the bases and Matthew Siekerka singled in 2 runs. Mets add another in the 2nd when Kevin Zabransky(2-3) singled and scored on a single by Dave Plishka. 3-0 Mets after 2. Mets add another in the 4th when again Kevin Zabransky singled, David Plishka singled and Pete DeFrank(3-4) singled in Kevin. Mets 4-0 after 4. The Ghost Pirates get a break from the trees in left after Max Metz hits a deep fly that hits a leaf before it hits the outfielder's game and it's ruled a home run. Malach(2-3) singled, Shanth Subbiah (3-3) singled to right, Adam Steckelman singled in the 2nd run and with two outs snake bit David Reiss singled over the left fielder's head to score another run. Then came the gamechanger, Mike Kideckel's grounder to third was thrown over the 1st baseman's head and the Pirates take the lead 5-4. Jason Berkowitz's double plates another and all of a sudden it's 6-4 Pirates. Pirates add 3 more in the 6th when Mark Davis reached on error and with two outs Malachi Metz singled off the short stops glove. Shanth drills a liner to right to score Jason and Dave "big game" Richmond helps his cause with a 2 run single to push the lead to 9-4. The Metz pick up 2 in the 7th but it's not enough and now both the Pandas and the Pirates have a shot to take over 1st place.
