Cowboys Can't Lasso Another Win, Lose to Pirates in Extra's 6-4. This was a tight; low scoring battle with the Pirates striking 1st after Jason Lew singled and scored on a homer by Max Metz. 2-0 Pirates. The Cowboys return the favor after Jason Davis singled and scored after Mark Spoto and Alex Simon both single. Mark scored on a error so it's 2-2 after one. The Pirates regain the lead after Dave Richmond(2-3) singled, Dave Reiss singled and Mike Kideckel hit a sac fly. Neither teams scored in the 3rd. Pirates add one more in the forth when Adam Steckelman singled, Shanth Subbiah singled and Dave Richmond singled to load the bases with no outs. Dave Reiss scores a run on a fielder's choice and the next batter hits into a double play. Pirates are up 4-2. Cowboys get 2 back in the 6th when Barry Davis tripled, Brian Quinn singled, Steve Horowitz singled and with two outs Jason Davis ties the game with a single. They miss a chance to take the lead but the score is tied 4-4. In the bottom of the 7th the Cowboys get a walk from Alec Vigil and a single up the middle by Rick DelGizzi. That puts the winning run on 3rd. But Barry Davis lined out to third and the next batter pops out to 1st and the Pirates have another chance in the 8th. With one out Greg Auerbach singled and a costly error allows Mike Kideckel to reach on a potential double play ball. Jake Berliner gets a big RBI single and with two outs Mark Davis singled in a 2nd run. The Pirates are up 6-4 and in the bottom they get the first two Cowboys out on two fine plays by Jason Lew. But Josh Simon finds a hole up the middle and Jason Davis follows with a single and wow, the Cowboys have a chance with the slugger up next. Mark crushes the 1st pitch but right at left fielder Mark Davis standing right at the fence and the Pirates hang on to win a much needed game for their playoff standings.
