Close But No Cigar, Rail Riders 6 Run 7th Clips the Pigs 18-16. There were quite a few guys who hit well tonight but the headline has to be Joel Orris's 2 triples and 5 RBIs,and Mike Heisheimer's cigar smoking 4-4 effort. This game was anything but boar-ing so sorry for the long write up because the video was not recording. Rail Riders get 4 in the 1st after Jay Glickson singled and Kay Klele doubled. Don Trifari(5-5) singled in two, Jared Kuropatkin and Brian Cass(4-4) singled and Ron Liebowitz single home another. The Pigs get robbed in the bottom after Mark Fedele's two great catches, wait one is called back by the ump who felt Mark's juggled ball hit the fence in right center. The Railriders go back to the field and Jon Weiner(4-5) is awarded a single so the Pigs have 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. An infield single by Cluck Puleo loads the bases before Joel Orris makes a diving stop at 2nd and flips to 2nd for the out. After 1 it 4-0 Riders. In the 3rd the Riders get 3 more after Don Trifari singled, Brian Cass singled and Joel Orris(4-5) beats the shift with a 2 RBI triple to left center. Bob Vogt hits a sac and it's 7-0 Rails. The Pigs start cooking in the 2nd when John Boeckel & Jim Halpin both single and Frank McNally(3-4) doubles in one. Jon Weiner lines one in the courts for a 2 run double and Chuck Puleo and Brain Godau both single. 7-4 Riders after 3. Riders get 4 in the 4th after Kay Klele hits a 2 out double and scored on a single by Don Trifari. With the new ball the Pigs tie it in the bottom when Mike Heisheimer(4-4) singled and after an error John Boeckel doubled off the fence scoring 2. Frank McNally hits a sac fly, then 3 singles by Weiner, Puleo and Godau push home 4th run. Were tie 8-8 after 4. Brain Cass leads with a single in the 5th and Joel Orris beats the shift with another triple, this time down the line in right. Joel scores on a sac fly by sac man Bob Vogt. 10-8 Riders. Pigs answer back with 2 more and Riders were lucky it wasn't worse. The last four batters, Chris Capobianco, Jason Benson(3-4), Mike Heisheimer all single and Tyler Eagan singled to tie the game with no outs and the top of the order coming up. John Boeckel lifts a fly to right that Bob Vogt chases down, but the Pig's runner on second left for 3rd and was thrown out. A big double play for Riders. After 5 its 10-10 and it's looking like it might rain. In the 6th Jay Glickson leads off with a single, tags on a deep fly out by Kay Klele and scored on a single by Don Trifari. Brian Cass walks and Joel Orris scores Don with another single, Riders are up 2 12-10 but the Pigs have a big inning. Frank McNally and Jon Weiner both reach on balls off the 2nd baseman's glove and the Pigs have the tying runs on with no outs. Chuck Puleo places a single to right to score one, Brain Godau singled. Then Marty Eagan, (who made a fantastic catch in left last inning) doubled over the left fielder's head and the Pigs finally take the lead 13-12 and are not finished. Chris Capobianco singled in another, Jason Benson and Mike Heisheimer both single in runs. The Pigs are up 16-12 with no outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. Jay Glickson gets an out at 3rd and the Pigs turn their order over again. The Riders get an out at 2nd on a ball off the pitcher's glove and the next batter lines out to short. Now the Pigs are up by 4 in the top of the 7th with the bottom of the Rails lineup coming up. Ron Liebowitz hits a dribbler towards third and the pitcher makes a wide throw at first, not sure how but it's ruled a single. Mark Fedele works a walk and a deep fly out advances both runners. Yes Ron Liebowitz was running for himself and tagged up from 2nd. Jay Glickson get an infield single off the 3rd baseman's glove to load the bases. If Ron didn't tag up he probably would have been out at third. Kay Klele lines a singled and 2 runs score. Don Trifari singled off the pitcher's glove and the ball just gets past the 2nd baseman and Riders are down by 1 with runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Jared K loads the bases with a single to left. Brian Cass doubles to right center and Riders take a 1 run lead. Joel Orris scores Jared on a fielder's choice (nice play by Jon Boeckel at 2nd). Up by 2 Riders give up another lead off error but the next 3 batters fly out and Riders hold on for a much need victory, ending their 3 game skid and bringing up a big game vs the 7th place Mud Hens on Saturday.
