Pirates Slip Past the Cowboys 10-4. There was only 27 hits total in this game, the Pirates had 16 of them and of those 16, rookie Justin Shupach had 3. Batting 1st Justin tripled to start the game and scored on a single by Jason Lew giving the Pirates a quick lead. Max Metz walked and Malachi singled in Jason. Mal scored on a fielder's choice by Dave Richmond. The Cowboys scored in the 3rd after Barry Daivs walked and Alex Simon(3-4) singled him home. Pirates get 2 in the 4th after Adam Steckelman singled, Greg Auerbach singled, then with 2 ourts Jason Berkowitz singled to load the bases. Justin Shupach comes throught again with a 2 RBI double. Pirates are up 6-1. Cowboys rally in the 5th when Mark Spoto hits a 2 out solo homer followed by 4 singles by Alex Simon, Alec Vigil, Steve Horowitz and a 2 RBI single by Brian Quinn. Pirates lead is cut to 6-4. But the Pirates bottom of the order comes through in the 6th after Dave Richmond singed and with one out 4 straight singles by Greg Auerbach, Mike Kideckel, Jake Berliner and Jason Berkowitz which plated 3 more runs, Jason Lew singled in another and the Pirates are up 10-4. There was some scoring errors but I think the Space Cowboys scored 2 more in the 7th after Mark Spoto doubled, Alex Simon singled, Alex Vigil singled home Mark and Steve Horowitz hit a sac fly. The game ended on a 1-6-3 double play, ouch!
