Clams Rake in Another Win. The Clams and the Beagles were neck and neck till the bottom of the 6th. Regal Beagles bite first putting up two runs in the 1st when Pat McNamara singled, Greg George singled and Mike Metz sacs in one run, then Dennis O'Dowd(3-4) singled in the 2nd. The Clams put up a two spot of their own when John Boeckel singled, then after an error and fielder's choice Joe Giordano(3-4) singles in one and the next run scores on another error. The dogs put up another in the 2nd when Ron Liebowitz singled, Cliff Berliner singled and Pat McNamara sacs in Ron, Beagles lead 3-2. Neither team scored in the 3rd. In the 4th the Clams benefit from another error and Casey Nix singles in the tying run. Then Bob Pezzuti(3-4) doubles in Casey, Clams lead 4-3. The Beagles start yapping in the 5th when Greg George homered, Lou Coppa walked and Dennis O'Dowd goes deep for a two run homerun, the Beagles are up 6-4. The Clams pick up one in the bottom when John Boeckel singled and scored on a two out double by Joe Giordano, the Beagles still lead 6-5 and pick up another run off two errors in the 6th to extend their lead to 7-5. But the Clams dig in and rake up 7 big ones in the bottom of the 6th. Bob Pezzuti led off with a single, Adam Handler singled, then another error and a fielder's choice scores a run. With two outs the firework display begins as Jay Glickson triples in a run to tie the game, then Dave Auerbach homers and Joe Giordano homers, Ed Bitterle singles, Casey Nix singles, Bob Pezzuti singles in a run and then Clams take a 12-7 lead into the 7th. The dogs were quiet and were put down 1-2-3.
