Who Said Cheers Has Nobody Who Can Hit It Out?. The first place Martini's were trailing 8-1 and took a shot (or two) at a comeback. But David Plishka and Cheers left them hungover in extra innings. After a scoreless first Rich Cobuzio(4-5) went opposite for a double, Bob Plishka singled, Paul Martino singled in Rich and Eamon Lougham sacked in the second run. In the bottom of the second Christian Hansen hit a solo shot and Cheers leads 2-1. Cheers answers back with a run when Don Rothrock singled and with two outs Dave Plishka(3-5) singled and Rich doubled again, this time in the courts to score Don. Cheers is up 3-1. Neither team scores till the 5th when they both had a big inning. With one out Mark Armelino reaches on an error, Dave Plishka singled and bam! Rich Cobuzio hits the first legit lefty homerun of the season. Bob Plishka singled, Paul Martino doubled off the fence and Ken O'Brien hits a clutch two out two run single. Cheers leads 8-1. Then the Martins get their shot. Chris Stappas blasts a single over the left fielders head, Rich Heim singled, Pat Russo singles to load the bases, Frank Coppola singled in a run, Brian Godau blooped in a run scoring single and a wild throw scores two more. John Sanzone went opposite to knock in Brian, Bruce Dostal scorches a line drive to right and Bob Fass and Frank McNally each sac in a run to tie the game 8-8. Cheers doesn't score in the top of the 6th and the Martini's take advantage of a lead off error when Rich Heim singles in the go ahead run. Martini's are up 9-8 in the top of the 7th. Bob Plishka leads off with a single and Paul Martino hits another key double. Bob scores the tying run on an infield grounder and a baserunning error ends the inning for Cheers. Tie 9-9 the Martini's can win it with a run but Cheers D and Mayday Martino's pitching come through. With one out in the top of the 8th Mike Cobuzio singles, Mark Armelino singles then the big blast by Dave Plishka, a 3 run homerun and Cheers holds on to win 12-9. John Sanzone was 3-4 for the Martini's and Rich Heim was 3-3. For Cheers Rich Cobuzio was 4-5 with 4 RBI's, Bob Plishka was 3-4, Paul Martino and Dave Plishka were both 3-5. With the loss Cheers is now tie for first with Lusty Leopards while Martini's drop to third place.
