Moe's Survives the Mud Pit Dispite Chris Koonjy's Big Day. Peach Pit is riding a 10 game winning streak and Moe's needs to win out to have any shot at the playoffs. The Pit gets off to a quick start in the bottom of the 1st when Mike Koonjy singled then after two outs Brian Koonjy doubled into the courts. With 2nd and 3rd and two outs Ralph Avallone singles to score the two Koonjy's, then Jason Hamberger helps out with another single moving Ralph to third. Chris Koonjy(2-3) singles in Ralph and the Pit is up 3-0. With a 1 and 1 count all game neither team scores until the top of the 5th when Moe's Ben Gabriel led off with a single, Wally Kamienski singled and Dave Kaiser hits a two out single to score Ben. Pit leads 3-1 and fails to score in the bottom of the 5th and Moe's bottom of the order comes up big in the 6th. After an out Matt Eisenberg singles, Mug Naveendra singles and Ryan Smith drops one in the courts scoring Matt. Joe Gianforte(3-4) singles in two and Moe's is up 4-3 with only one out. Mark Spotto hits a hits a big double moving Joe to third and Ben Gabriel sacs in a run and a bad throw makes it 6-3 and Moe's is not done. Jim Morris doubles followed by another double into the courts by Wally Kamienski scoring the 6th run of the inning and Moe's takes a 7-3 lead. In the bottom of the 6th Pit gets one back when Ralph Avallone leads off with a double, moves to third on a fly out, before Chris Koonjy came through again with a sac fly scoring Ralph. Moe's leads 7-4. In the top of the 7th Moe's bottom comes through again. Dave Kaiser leads off with a double, Dean Sottile doubles to deep left scoring Dave and Matt Eisenberg singles in Dean. Mug Naveendra also singles bringing up the top of the order with one out but Moe's fails to score more and leads 9-4. The bottom of the Pit lineups comes up in the bottom of the 7th trailing by 5. After an out Jason Dickert works a walk, Mike Koonjy bloops in a single to right and Tony Garrett hits into a fielder choice resulting in a very close call at second and some unhappy Pitters. Pit is down by 5 with two out and Jason Crimmins singles off the right field fence to score one. Brian Koonjy doubles deep into the courts scoring another. Ralph Avallone walks to load the bases and Jason Hamberger also walks scoring another run and moving the tying run to second with two outs. Chris Koonjy comes up huge with a game tying single to center and the next batter grounds out and the game is tie. The commissioner wants to end the game in a tie due to darkness but both managers want to play one more inning so here we go into the 8th. Mark Spotto leads off for Moe's and Pit is not showing him to much respect in right center so Mark hits a bomb all the way to the center field fence for a lead off triple. Jim Morris scores Mark on an infield grounder and Pit fails to score in the bottom. Moe's takes it 10-9 and both teams are remain mathematically in the playoff hunt. It was quite a day for Chris Koonjy with his 4 RBI's and 7th inning, two out, game tying single but Mark Spotto came through in the mud with a 6th inning double and 8th inning triple to save it for Moe's. Joe Gianforte was 3-4 for Moe's and Brian Koonjy was 3-4 for Pit in the loss.
