Olde Towne Deli Has Great Subs. They Bite Rails 17-13. It was a big day for Olde Towne manager Mike Metz who was playing his very first LVC softball game with his olde-st son Malachi. Olde Town was short on beef and added two subs to the menu the Petry and the Puleo. The Petry was 2-4 and cost Rails 3 runs and the Puleo was 2-3 for two runs. That's a lot of mustard from the bottom of the order. Rails managed one run in the top of the 1st on two errors and a single by Jared Bruno. Then in the bottom Rails pitcher served up two walks. Mike Metz moved the runners up with a fly ball and Josh Simon sacked in a run to tie it 1-1. With two outs, in his first ever atbat, rookie Malachi Metz hits a ball off the end of the bat that lands on the right field line and spins away from the fielders for a run scoring double, then Chris Stappas singles and Malachi scores on an error. Olde Towne is up 3-1. In the 2nd Rails add another run when Rich Heim doubled, New Guy Mike Bedell singled and Rich scored on a single by the hot Chris Capobianco (4-4). In the bottom of the 2nd the Puleo singles, followed by a Ralph Fariello single (4-4), Mike Metz walked to load the bases, then it's deja vu all over again as Josh Simon sacked in another run and Malachi Metz hits another run scoring double scoring his dad from 2nd. Olde Towne is now leading 6-2. Rails manages another run in the 3rd and Olde Town respond with 4 more runs. This time it's the Petry that starts the rally reaching on by error then scoring on a single by the Puleo. Ralph Fariello gets another single, Steve DeBlasio walks and Mike Metz gets his first single of the season. Josh Simon singles in two more and Old Town takes a big 10-3 lead. Rails put up 3 in the 4th to cut the score to 10-6 but Old Town had a big 6th scoring 5 more runs. Again it was the Petry that got the big inning started but this time Mike Metz had the big blow with his first HR of the season. Rails makes it interesting in the top of the 7th scoring 5 but Olde Towne hangs on to win 17-13.
