Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Metz? The Bricks Withstand the Big Blow 19-9. Olde Towne's Ralph Fariello and Josh Simon both singled to start the 1st. Jon Weiner doubled off the fence scoring Ralph and Josh, then Mike Metz huffs and puffs and here comes the big blow, a two run homer to left. The Deli opens with a 4 run lead. But the Bricks are not afraid and match that with 4 runs of their own when John Boeckel, Jay Glickson and Ryan Smith all single before rookie Ryan Olohan (remember the name) singled to score Jay. Then Dave Reiss gets on by error scoring a few more and Brick ties it 4-4. Olde Town's Lee Kornbluh singled and Pete DeFrank singled to start the 2nd but the top of the Olde Towne lineup goes down 1,2,3. Brick strengthens their foundation with 5 more in the 2nd after Ken O'Brien opens with a single, Rick Fardo singled and with two outs John Boeckel singled scoring Ken. Jay Glickson walks to load the bases for Ryan Smith. Ryan's ball is dropped in right leading to a costly 4 run error; Brick leads 9-4. Olde Towne does some more huffing and puffing in the 3rd when Steve DeBlasio huffed out a double and with two outs Jason Davis singled scoring Steve. Brett Hartman singled to score Jason, Seth Mendelson and Lee Kornbluh single and Brick returns the favor when Pete DeFrank's ball is puffed by the short stop allowing two more Olde Towne runs to score. Brick's house is still standing 9-7. Brick doesn't score in the 3rd and Olde Towne's huff and puffers Josh Simon and Mike Metz combine to score another run. Olde Towne is trailing by a chin hair 9-8. With Olde Towne at the doorstep Ryan Olohan steps up his bid for rookie of the year. Jay Glickson singled, Ryan Smith doubled in the courts, Lou Coppa singled then Ryan Olohan rips a shot to center and goes wee, wee, wee, wee, all the way home. Brick is now up 13-9. Olde Towne fails to score in the 6th and Ryan Olohan does it again, another homer scoring 3 big bad runs. Brick's house is still standing with a 19-9 victory. For Olde Towne Steve DeBlasio was 4-4 while Ryan Smith, Jay Glickson and Rick Fardo each had three hits for Brick. Ryan Olohan finished with a 4-4 night including 7 RBI's.
