The Big Mach Attack Redeems Michael Angelo's in 8-7 Railbitter. Jon Mach's two late inning doubles were the redemption Michael Angelo's desparately needed after Saturday morning's exile from the league's top 6. With their narrow 8-7 victory they move back into the holy ground of the leagues top teams. Their victory was impressive especially since they were missing their top two draft picks, Bob and Dave Plishka. Michael Angelo's went through a 4 inning scoring drought before the rains fell in the 5th inning while Rails picked up runs in the first and 4th starting with a Pat McNamara single. Bob Fass, who was celebrating his birthday followed with a double and Jared Bruno(2-2) used a sac fly to score Pat in the 1st. In the 4th Rails scored a second run after Kyle Godau's father Brian singled, then with two outs Jared Bruno singled and Christian Hansen whipped up a run scoring single to left center. Rail's is up 2-0 and Pat McNamara has only taken 5 Michael Angelo hits so far. But everything changed after they opened up the 5th and the Rail's pitcher started seeing doubles. Abe Heller split the outfielders with a lead off double and Jared Citron follows with a walk. Ron Liebowitz lifts Michael Angelo's spirit with a single to load the bases with no outs. Cliff, last Sunday's hero, Berliner comes through again with an RBI single putting Michael Angelo's on the board. After an out Rail's is seeing double again, this time Jon Mach shocks Rail's with long drive over the centerfielder's head scoring all three runs; Jon tries for third but gets nailed down by a good relay. Michael Angelo's is up 4-2. Rail's gets one back quickly as rookie Kyle Godau continues to impress with an inside the park, leadoff homerun. Top of the 6th and Angelo's is up 4-3. Jason Abfier leads off for Angelo's with his first single of the night and after an out Brian Cass follows up with his first single. Manager Mike Citron comes through with his 2nd single, scoring Jason. Abe Heller stays hot with a run scoring single and Jared Citron sacs in the 3rd run of the inning. Then with two outs Ron Liebowitz redeems himself with his biggest hit of the season, a single, putting Michael Angelo's up by 5. Just when it looks like Michael Angelo's was in control Pat Billerman starts the bottom of the 6th with a single bringing up the top of Rail's order with no outs. Kyle's father Brian follows with his second single and with one out, up comes birthday boy Bob who delivers a run scoring single to right center. Jared Bruno follows with his 2nd RBI and Frank Coppola sets the table by loading the bases for Kyle Godau who homered in his last atbat. So here we are with Rail's trailing by 3, bases loaded and two outs. Kyle comes through again, this time with a single scoring two more runs and putting Rail's tying run on 2nd. Jon Mach gets the next batter to ground out and then doubles with one out in the top of the 7th but doesn't score. So it's on to the bottom of the 7th, Rail's is down by one and Jon Mach is pitching, now this is LVC softball at its finest! But this is Jon's day of deliverance and he shuts down Rail's 1,2,3 spoiling another Rail's Sunday night party. Ron Leibowitz's 6th inning single turns out to be the winning RBI and Ron was found still hanging around well after the 6:30 game enjoying it.
