Levine Gets Robbed by a Coppa. JR may be back but Louis Coppa was making all the big plays as Brick 46 hangs on to beat The Station 15-13. Brick 46 loaded the bases in the 1st and didn't score. In the bottom Jim Morris leads off with a single for the Station, Ralph Aiello gets on by error. Donnie JR makes his first plate appearance in 4 years and rips a screamer right to the right fielder as Jim Morris tags to third. Don SR sacs in Jim and Lance Zacker 3-4 doubles in Ralph, The Station leads 2-0. In the 2nd Ken O'Brien reaches on error and with two outs Mike Carver smashes a double to deep left center surprising the outfielders. Mike takes third on the throw home and scores on a sac by Rick Fardo to tie it 2-2. Jared Kruger and Larry Friedman walk in the bottom of the 2nd with one out, then Andy Reiser (3-4 4 RBI's) hits an RBI single, The Station is up 3-2. Dave Reiss (3-3) leads off with another single and scores on a single by Lou Coppa, game tied 3-3. Jim Morris leads off the bottom of the 3rd with an OBE but 2nd basemen Matt Eisenberg fields Donnie JR ball in short right center and throws the runner out at 2nd. Then Don SR hits a ball off the first basemen's mit and Matt Eisenberg makes another nice play to end the inning. In the top of 4 Matt Eisenberg leads off with an OBE and after two fly outs Rick Fardo surprises the outfield with a double to deep left center scoring Matt. Brick leads 4-3. Lance Zacker homers to lead off the bottom of the 4th, Marty Eagan (3-4) singles, Dave Richmond singles, Jared Kruger singles to load the base. Larry Friedman hits a FC to score a run and the Station leads 5-4. Dave Reiss leads off again and singles again, Jay Glickson singles, Ryan smith singles to score a run. after a fly out, David Bornstein is intentionally walked to load the bases and Craig Ferluge drops in a two run single, Brick leads 7-5. The Station answers back with a run when Steve Horowitz singles, Jim Morris singles and with one out Don JR hits a high fly ball behind second that falls in scoring Steve, but the next two batters fly out to end the inning, Brick leads 7-6. Then comes the big inning for Brick, Mike Carver, Rick Fardo and Matt Goodstein all single to load the bases. Dave Reiss had to leave and Jay Glickson singles up the middle scoring two runs. After some discussions the Station decides to walk Ryan Smith with 1st base open and Lou Coppa makes them pay with a grand slam. Brick leads 13-6. Marty Eagan leads off with a since for the Station and with two outs Larry Friedman singles and Andy Reiser singles to score another run, Mike Levine singles to load the bases and Steve Horowitz hits a high fly ball to short left that Ryan Smith slides in to catch, saving two runs. With two outs in the top of the 7th the Station makes an error bringing up Ryan Smith who triples over the left fielders head and scores on another error. Did those two runs matter? Brick is up 15-7. With one out in the bottom of the 7th, down 8 Ralph Aiello singles and Donnie Jr finally gets into one for a 2 run HR. Don Sr singles by first, Lance Zacker singles, Marty Eagan singles to load the bases for Dave Richmond who doubles in two. After an out Larry Friedman works a walk and Andy Reiser singles in two more and The Station is only down by two. Mike Levine is up and drills a line drive that Lou Coppa makes a great diving grab to end the game. Brick46 over the Station 15-13.
