Columbia Runs Into A Brick Wall. Dave Bornstein was pitching a no hitter till David Drillings spoiled it in the 5th. Missing Rick Beyer and the Cobuzio's Columbia didn't smell the coffee till Brick had built up a 13-0 wall. Brick scored twice in the 1st after Jay Glickson singled, Ryan Smith singled and Ken O'Brien singled, then had a huge 10 run 4th. Seth Friedman tomahawked a single to right. Jared Bornstein walked, Matt Goodstein came up big with an RBI single up the middle and the Brick got fired up. John Boeckel singled in a run, Jay Glickson sacked in one as well. Then came the call of the game and the slide of the year by John Boeckel. Ryan Smith drilled a hard single to right and as John Boeckel rounded 2nd he hesitated just a bit before heading to third. He goes into 3rd standing up running full speed, then manages to keep his foot on the bag as he falls forward to stop himself. The ump called him safe much to the displeasure of the Columbians. Brick gets a big two run single by Lou Coppa, Dave Bornstein sacs in another, Ken O'Brien singled, Matt Eisenberg walked and Seth Friedman, who started the inning with a tomahawk, takes a conventional swing and rips a triple down the right field line. Mike Cafaro singled home Seth and Brick gets a much needed, easy 13-2 win.
