Columbia Likes It Hot! Columbia Inn repays the Station for their mercy win early in the season. It was hot and the young Columbian beans were roasting to perfection. Jonathan Drillings started the game beating out an infield grounder, David Drillings tripled in the gap in left center, Mike Cobuzio also tripled and Rick Beyer singled Mike home. Kevin Zabransky sacked in the 4th run and the Columbian beans jump out to an earily lead. The Station starts with a quick two outs, Don Trifari legs out an infield single, Lance Zacker singled but Kevin Zabransky, down 3-0 in the count, comes back to get a big strike out. Columbia 4-0 after 1. Columbia doesn't score in the top of the 2nd and the Station manages one run off singles by Jim Morris and Dave Richmond. Mike Levine hit what should have been a single but the outfielder throws out the runner going to 3rd and almost turn a double play but the fielder's foot was off the bag (so say the umps after a quick meeting). Sub Clay Petry had all the Station's RBI's as he singled to score Dave Richmond. Columbia is up 4-1. Columbia starts the off the bottom of the 3rd with a lead off error, then David Drillings singled, Mike Cobuzio singled, Rick Beyer singled for a run. Wally Kamienski walked, Gary Drilling singled in a run, another error, then a walk to Rich Cobuzio to load the bases for Kevin Jr who singled in two. With two outs Jason Dickert singled to load the bases and John Machiski takes advantage of the uneven landscape with a double off Dave Richmond's glove as he stumbled on the play and three more beans score. Columbia is up 13-1 and the Station is already dragging in the heat. In the bottom of the 6th Jason Dickert led off with a single, then an error and Jonathan Drillings single put Columbia within two of the mercy rule. David Drilling walks and Mike Cobuzio ends the game the with a walk off two RBI single as everyone runs for the coolers.
