Today's Headliner: Three Days to Forget. It's been a tough 3 days for the Headliners as they pickup their 3rd straight loss and find themselves at the bottom of the standings. Today they out hit Maynard's 15 to 13 but still ended up with a 7-4 loss. It seems they still haven't recovered from Saturdays loss after being up 13 runs in the 1st inning against Leqquett's. Tonight they had a makeup against the hot Maynard's team and played a close game till the end. That's when the thunder started, let's pick it up in the 1st. Greg Espperson tripled for Maynard's and Ryan Smith saced him in. Brian Cass singled, Mike Citron singled and Steve Horowitz drove in a 2nd run, Maynard's is up 2-0. In the bottom David Plishka singled and scored on a single by Casey Nix. Neither team scored in the 2nd. In the 3rd Maynard's new spark plug, Ron Liebowitz(2-2) led off with a single, Adam Handler singled. Then after an error Greg Espperson walks to score a run. So we have bases loaded and no outs and Ryan Smith up and this could be a big inning for Maynard's. But Ryan lines out to 1st and Brian Cass hits a sac fly and a second run scores but the runner is out trying to advance to 3rd. Maynard's is up 4-1 and it could have been a lot worse. Headliner's Dave Kaiser singled and scored on a single by David Plishka. Maynard's is up 4-2. No scores in the 4th and both teams trade runs in the 5th. Maynard's fails to score in the 6th and Headliner's cuts the lead to one when Mike Metz leads off with a homer, his first since the injured leg. But Maynard's picks up two quick runs in the top of the 7th after Rich Citron led off with a singled and Jeff Brooks followed with an inside the park homer in the gap in right center. Maynard's takes this game 7-4 with only 13 hits to pull within one game of 1st place. Good thing this game started at 6 because the weather was getting pretty scary in the top of the 7th.
