Paul Martino's Homered but BAR A's Ryan Goodrich Delivered the Knock Out Punch. In a big battle for the remaining playoff spots, Bar A, batting only 10 players, outlasted D'Jais big 13 man lineup. D'Jais took an early 2-0 lead on a 2 out double by Nick Adams. But Bar A erased that quickly with some great hitting by the middle of their lineup. Paul Martino was running late and didn't pitch the 1st inning. With the game time being moved up to 6:00 and this being a big game for both teams, maybe we should have waited 15 minutes to start this one. As it stands, Pete DeFrank led off the bottom of the 1st with a walk. With one out Jon Weiner singled off the 1st baseman's glove. Jay Glickson sacked in a run. Ryan Goodrich walked with 1st base open bringing up X factor, Mark Fedele(4-4) with 2 outs, who singled to right. That scored a run but the throw coming in went out of play and another run scored and Mark went to third. There was some umpire discussions on the play but Mark stayed at 3rd. The next batter grounded to short but Mark Spotto forgot there was no runner going to 2nd and Bar A picked up another run. They lead 4-2. Neither team scored till the 4th. D'Jais 2,3,4 batters go down 1,2,3 opening the door for Bar A's to expand their lead. Chris Stappas(3-4) led the bottom off with a single and with two outs again, Bar A gets it rolling. Ralph Fariello(3-4) singled (looked like an error) but a collision at second and Mark Spotto dropped the ball. What happened to slide or avoid, runner could have been called out. That would have ended the inning with no runs. But there was no call and Jon Weiner(3-4) singled in a run. Jay Glickson singled in another and Ryan Goodrich(3-4) doubled in one more. Mark Fedele comes through again and Bar A picked up 4 runs with 2 outs. They lead 8-2. In the 5th D'Jais get back in the game when Nick Adams doubled, Brian Quinn singled and bam, Paul Martino hits a bomb to left center that hit the overhanging tree branches and goes under the fence. The umpires argued but it was called a homerun and from the video it looked liked the right call. D'Jais is back in the game, trailing 8-5. In the bottom of the 6th Bar A does it again with 2 outs. Ralph Fariello singled, Jon Weiner doubled in the courts and with two outs Ryan Goodrich comes through with a big, gamebusting 2 RBI singled. But wait, from the video it looked like Ryan front foot was way out of the box (check twitter feed). The ump does not call what could have been the 3rd out and Bar A goes on to score two more on singles by Mark Fedele, a double by Jesse Ferro and single by Rick Fardo to make it 12-5. D'Jais get 2 runs on a homer by Dave Auerbach and the game ends 12-7. With Bar A's win, both Triton and Stone Pony get eliminated from the playoff hunt.
