The Cakes Get Baked in the 7th. The Gambino Family rallied back twice to get their first big score of the season. It was a bottom of the 7th thriller that ended off the bat of Gambino, Rob Guilbert. Hot Cake John Boeckel provided the batter for the Cakes tonight, going 3-3 with a walk. The Cakes never trailed but couldn't put the icing on this one. Gambino rookie Jim Gesualdo provided the spark at the bottom of the order, going 3-3 with a big hit in the bottom of the 7th. Pitcher Brian Quinn gets the win and also picked up 2 hits and two big RBI's for the Family. Johnny's rookie Matt Siekierka made some diving plays at short in the bottom of the 6th, trying to preserve a 2 run lead. But it was Marty Eagan(2-3) who delivered the big Gambino shot tonight. A deep single to right center that put the Gambino's down only one and moved the tying run to third. Brian Quinn followed with, what should have had his 3rd hit of the night, but although Matt Siekierka robbed him, Brian still managed to drive in the tying run. The Cakes fell flat in the top of the 7th, ending the inning with a double play. The Gambino's took that momentum to the bottom where their last two batters, Mike Cafaro and Jim Gesualdo, both singled to set the table for the top of the order. Then the Gambino's got a few breaks on some tough hops to push home that winning run. Mike Levine's Gambino's pick up their first win 7-6.
