Irishman Clip the Rat Pack on a Face Off 8-6. In one of the strangest finishes ever in an LVC softball game, the Irishman managed to hold on in the top of the 7th. With the tying run at the plate, Bruce Dostal ripped a hard grounder twards 1st and the ball took a high hop and was deflected off 1st baseman Steve Deblasio's face. It ricocheted right back to pitcher Don Trifari who out ran Bruce Dostal to first for the final out. The Rat Pack outhit the Irish 17-13 but they left 9 runners on base and had 4 walks. The Irish had some timely hits and had their best inning with 2 outs and nobody on. Calvin Kwock worked a walk and the hot Alex Lieberman(2-3) singled. Dave Kaiser followed that with one of his two singles and Ralph Fariello walked to score Calvin. Ryan Smith(3-4) hit a hard chopper he turned into a double to put the Irish up 7-4 after 4. The Irish put up their final run on another LVC 1st. Steve Deblasio lined a shot to left that hit the top of the fence, popped up and came back down on the top of the fence and fell back in play for a double. Jeff Brooks was 2-3 and Ralph Fariello who made two diving catches in left center, was also 2-3 for the Irish. Frank Coppola was a perfect 3-3, Alex Fass was 3-3, and Rich Heim, Mike Bedell & Tom Schur were all 2-3 for the Rat Pack.
