It's All Good. Goodfellas rebounds against Johnny Cakes with a big 19-5 win. They move into 2nd place with 1 game remaining and hold the tiebreaker against La Cosa but not against Corleone. Chuck Puleo(4-4) and Jared Kuroptakin(4-4) both had big games and Len Tarnoff picked up 3 RBIs off a 3-4 night. Jon Mach even chipped in on offense today with a big RBI single in the 2nd when the game was close. Jon Cocchio hit his 8th homer and now trails Dave Auerbach by one with only one game left, unfortunately Dave has three. Johnny Cakes made a run in the 3rd inning when Jigar Desal singled. Here is some play by play while the game was close. With one out in the 3rd, Pete DeFrank singled and John Weiner singled to drive home JC first run. Clay Petry singled in run number 2 and the lead is cut in half with Goodfellas winning 4-2. It didn't last long after Jon Cocchio changed the momentum with a solo homer. Derek Lynn singled, Len Tarnoff singled and then came Johnny Cakes first error that led to a run. Jared Kuroptakin singled in the 3rd run and Goodfellas is up 7-2. JC had a chance in the 6th trailing 10-4 Clay Petry hit a deep ball with men on that looked like it might go out. But it was caught at the fence. Goodfellas put the game away in the 6th with 9 runs but Johnny Cakes had several chances to make big plays that they just could hold on to. The game was initially called by mercy rule but they didn't realize that the scoreboard was not accurate and kept playing. The loss ends Johnny Cakes 3 game winning streaking and puts them in a tie with Medigans (yes that's right) for the last playoff spot. Winter Hill and Johny Dangerously are still well in the mix now that Johnny Cakes drops to 6-8. Big game for winter hill coming up Tuesday vs the hot Corleones.
