The Irish Bump Off Goodfellas 6-5. In the tightest game of the day, The Irishman killed off a Goodfellas bottom of the 7th rally with a game ending double play. The Irishman took the early lead when Ralph Aiello walked in the 2nd and with two outs rookie Calvin Kwock(2-3) singled and James Morris(2-3) singled in the first Irishman run of the season. John DeLuca singled in a second and the Irish are up 2-0. That didn't last long as Jake Tarnoff and Neil Ascione both drove in runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd 2-2. The Irishman get one more in the 3rd after Ryan Smith(2-2) tripled off the fense in right, then Don Trifari singled to score Ryan. In the 5th the Irish add one when Calvin Kwock and James Morris both single and Jeff Shupak singled to score Calvin. The Irishman are up 4-2 after 5. In the 6th The Irishman scored 2 more off back to back doubles from Ryan Smith and rookie Aric Bernstein, Don Trifari singled and Steve Deblasio singled to score Aric. Then some controversy as Ralph Aiello gets called out for his bat hitting the ball as he was leaving the box. Quoting Robert De Niro in the movie "What Kind Of Man Makes A Call Like That?", lol. The Irish rally ends and they take a 6-2 lead. In the bottom of the 6th the Irish get a break after Jared Kuroptakin doubled and Neil Ascione singled. The Irishman had a chance for a double play but the throw to first is off the mark. Jon Mach hit a hard drive to right that James Morris makes a great play on. Then Jim Watkins drives a ball down the 1st baseline that Goodfellas thought went out of play and held their runner on third. That runner got stranded when Chuck Puleo drilled a ball up the middle that was caught by the pitcher for the last out. Turns out that was a big run. The Irishman don't score in the top of the 7th and Goodfellas has the hammer and trails by 3. With one out Brad Hartung grounds off the 2nd baseman's glove and Jon Cocchio singled. Derek Lynn works a 3-2 walk and Len Tarnoff picks up where he left off last season, with a clutch single to center scoring two. With the tying run on second the next batter drills a liner to the pitcher and the Irishman pick the runner off 1st to end the game 6-5.
