La Cosa No Gas. La Cosa Nostra might have done an LVC first tonight. They beat the 1st place Irishman the first game of their doubleheader and lost to the last place Medigans 6-3 in the 2nd game. The loss drops them back to 2nd place in the standings so they were only in 1st place for about an hour and a half. With the hot temperatures this game only featured two innings of scoring. In the bottom of the 3rd the Medigans got all their runs for the game when Craig Engelhardt singled, Jesse Ferro(3-4) singled and Jason Crimmins walked to load the bases. Nick Adams singled and two runs scored. Victor Cardona(2-3) drilled a double right on the left field line for one more. Tony Garrett(2-3) doubled to deep left to score another. Fred Heismeyer singled in run number 6. All with no outs. So the Medigans are up 6-0 after 3. La Cosa Nostra was dragging and only mannaged 6 hits throught the first 6 innings. Maybe the double header was not a good idea after all. In the top of the 7th they get on the board. Ralph Avallone singled, Dave Schachman just gets a single by 2nd that hit the pitchers glove. Ralph hustled to third and the throw from the outfield gets by the 3rd baseman and Ralph scores. Jon Drillings(2-3) singled up the middle and Chris Mazur(2-3) singled to score Dave. Jake Spielberger(2-3) singled to load the bases for Gary Drillings who ended up with a fielder's choice on the play. Gary Drilled what looked like a single to left center but the runner at second thought it might be caught and didn't break for third right away. The throw from the outfield beats the runner to third for a big 1st out. But Gary got an RBI on the play and the score is now Medigans 6, La Cosa 3 with only one out. The next two batter flew out and Medigans start celebrating and throwing their gloves in the air.
