The Irishman Eke Out a Win in the Sunday Night Rat Race. This game was fun for the fans and went down to the wire. The Rat Pack drew first blood after John Sanzone(3-4),  who is back in the lineup today, singled and the ball got by the outfielder so John ended up on 3rd. Christian Hansen hit a sac fly and the Rats take a 1-0 lead after 1. In the second the Irishman pick up two runs on singles by Ralph Aiello, Calvin Kwock, Jim Morris and then two sac flys by James Morris and Matt Shupak(3-3). Irish are up 2-1. in the bottom of the 2nd Bob Fass(2-3), Jared Bruno(2-3) and Bruce Dostal(2-3) all singled with Bob scoring. Brian Godau walked to load the bases and Rich Heim drew a walk and RBI. Tom Schur singled in a run and the Irish turn a double play. Mike Bedell singled in another run and the Rats are back on top 6-2. The Irish get 2 back in the 3rd after Jeff Shupak legged out an infield single. Then Ralph Fariello(3-4) singled and Aric Bernstein followed with an RBI single. Don Trifari singled in another and it's 6-4 Rats after 3. In the 5th the Irish have a big inning with the help of a key error. Ralph Fariello hit a 1 out single. Ryan Smith(2-3) doubled in the court and both run scored on a single by Aric Bernstein to tie the score at 6-6. Don Trifari hit a ball that Bruce snagged up the middle but the throw to 2nd sailed into the outfield and oh no, it's 1st and 3rd, no outs. Ralph Aiello singled in Aric, Calvin Kwock(1-2) walked and Jim Morris gets a big 2 run single up the middle. Matt Shupak singled and Jame Morris(2-3) singled in the 6 run. Now the bases are loaded with only 1 out but the next batter hit a grounder to 3rd and Rich Heim snagged it. He stepped on third and got the runner at home for the double play, don't you hate when that happens. So the Irishman are up 10-6 but the Rat are not going to die easy. They gnaw their way back to tie it in the bottom of the 5th with the help of a few Irish errors. Chris Stappas sparked them when he blasted a lead off double. Then the Irish return the favor with two back to back errors allowing Chris to score. The Irish picked up a force out at second. So with one out Curt Heim launches a bomb to the deepest part of the courts for a long double. John Sanzone singled and two more runs scored. Christian Hansen laced a single to left and Bob Fass ties the game with a single just off the 2nd baseman's glove. So it's 10-10 in the top of the 6th and Ralph Fariello comes through again with a one out single. Ryan Smith singled past 2nd and Aric Bernstein hits a deep fly and Ralph moves to 3rd. With 1st and 3rd and two outs Don Trifari doubled to left, Ralph scores and Ryan scored from first to give the Irish a 12-10 lead. Then a throwing error allows Don to score and the Irish are up 13-10. Now it's the bottom of the 7th and the Irish are holding that 3 run lead but the Rats refuse to go down easy. With one out Mike Bedell doubled just off the glove of Aric Bernstein then with 2 outs they bring up the top of the order. Curt Heim singled and the crafty John Sanzone took advantage of the shift and doubled to left. Mike score and the Irish try to get John going to second. The ball gets away and Curt score and the tying run moves over to 3rd with two outs. Frank Coppola works a walk bringing up the dangerous Christain Hansen with the winning run at 1st. There was some thought about walking Christian but they decide to pitch to him. Christian hits a ball off the end of the bat that pops up right between the pitcher, third and short. It's a tough play and all three players converge on the ball and Ralph Fariello somehow makes a game saving catch to perserve another Irishman victory. Live Lucky!! The loss drops the Rat Pack to 3-10 and pretty much ends their playoff hopes for this season. But that didn't spoil their post game BBQ roast.
